IMO TEST REPORT


DESCRIPTION OF SPECIMENS:

Four pieces of specimen, said to be “NGANYAM / Black 08” (1.2mm - 1.3mm thick) Synthetic Weaving Material comprising of HDPE were submitted. Two pieces of specimen were of nominal test size of 450mm x 300mm and two pieces of specimen were of nominal test size of 450mm x 150mm.

The Additives and Fire Retardant used were said to be UV Light Stabilizer and FR0008 respectively. The nominal thickness of the sample was found to be approximately 1.1 mm. The overall thickness and area bulk density of the specimen were found to be approximately 4mm and 1.38kg/m2 respectively

RESULTS:

 
 
Description
Observation

1. Smouldering Cigarette Test
i. Flaming ignition
ii. Progressive smouldering ignition

No occurrence of any visible flaming within 60min of cigarette
placement.

Specimen charred under the influence of the ignition source but did not propagate further (non progressive) within 60min of cigarette placement.

2. Butane Flame test
i. Flaming ignition

Specimen self extinguished after removal of the burner tube.

ii. Progressive smouldering ignition

Specimen charred under the influence of the ignition source but did not propagate further (non progressive) after removal of the burner tube.

 
CONCLUSION:
 
In accordance with the requirements stated in IMO Res. A. 652(16) adopted on 19 October 1989 the sample tested passed both the Smouldering Cigarette test and the Butane Flame test.
